The Breast Cancer Support Fund is a non-profit organization, run by a volunteer board and supported by an advisory team.
The members of our board provide a wealth of experience in business and not-for-profit. The members of our advisory team bring diverse experiences from within the breast cancer community, as well as an understanding of the limitations of the health care system and the challenges that accompany a breast cancer diagnosis. They all have one thing in common: a shared passion and vision to ease the burden of breast cancer patients.
Donna Sheehan, Founder
Donna Sheehan, Founding Board Member, is a business woman and entrepreneur, experienced in program management for community-based organizations with a focus on supportive cancer care and health promotion. Long history of advocacy in the not-for-profit sector, government relations. Interdisciplinary Studies in Non-Profit and Voluntary Sector management. Breast Cancer survivor.
Melanie Cole, Chair
Melanie Cole, Chair, is a securities and corporate partner at Aird & Berlis LLP, a full-service Canadian law firm based in Toronto. Long history of volunteering and Board participation in the charitable and not-for-profit sector, with particular strength in board governance and legal compliance. Prior to her legal career, Melanie was a legislative advisor to a federal cabinet minister.
Jill Voisin, Treasurer is currently an Assistant Vice President TD Financial, TD Securities, CGA, and has a long history of volunteering for Girl Guides of Canada.
Tara Wood is a communications strategist that specializes in corporate communications and issues management. Having split her time between the agency and non-profit sectors, she has worked across a range of industries including health, energy, environment, financial and more. Her passion is developing campaigns to help organizations best reach and activate their target audiences to achieve meaningful results.
Georgianna Ma is an experienced management consultant. She is currently a Senior Manager, Business Transformation at BMO Financial Group. She provides advisory services to leading multinational and Fortune 500 companies to help optimize and transform their organizations. She has a keen interest in volunteering for various charitable organizations.
Hannah Robinson is skilled in Information management and has experience in Direct Mail and Major Gift Fundraising. As she comes from a background of Social Work, she is dedicated to working with organizations that are geared to empower people and be part of a meaningful change. Hannah brings extensive data management skills along with her passion to provide support to the community of women that are fighting a cruel, dual battle with breast cancer and the severe financial crisis it places on their life and families.
Devon Hunter is an experienced commercial specialist with international experience in transforming business results. He has supported not-for-profit institutions in various roles throughout his career. He is passionate about doing work that makes a difference in people’s lives.
Isabel Pascoe is a marketing executive responsible for designing and implementing marketing strategies to power customer growth, most recently at Rogers Inc. Isabel has been involved in the nonprofit sector for a number of years including serving on the board of Furniture Bank, being a councillor for the Canadian Red Cross, Peel Region, and volunteering for the Canadian Cancer Society.
Paul Bies serves as president of Mystique Brand Communications. Mystique specializes in helping small-to-medium businesses, including charities and not-for-profits, build dynamic brands and compelling user experiences that optimize communication and conversion across multiple channels.
Karen Cannon a social worker who has worked in both health care and community settings for close to twenty years. Most of her professional career has been spent working with cancer patients and their families/caregivers. As an oncology social worker, she has assisted individuals with all aspects of the cancer journey, including financial, social, emotional and psychological. Her professional experience, as well as her experience as a breast cancer survivor, provides her with insight into the challenges facing breast cancer patients.
Lindsay Kronenberg worked for over fifteen years as an Human Resources Professional in the field of broadcasting. Currently, she works part-time for an organization that provides emotional, psychological and informational support to individuals and families living with cancer. Lindsay has had a personal experience with breast cancer and volunteers as a Peer Support volunteer.
Deanna Nemeth is a freelance translator with more than 15 years of experience in fundraising, public relations, community development. Currently completing her MA, Translation Studies at York University’s Glendon College, Deanna volunteers for several not-for-profit and community organizations. Deanna became involved with BCSF after losing a close friend to breast cancer.
Allan Austin is a corporate communications generalist with four decades of experience. He works closely with senior leaders to create, develop, implement and measure strategy-based communications programs. His experience includes not-for-profit, business, institutional, and government clients, and writing for print, spoken word, video and social media.
